They grow up so fast

Parker suffers from second baby syndrome. I was able to spend more time blogging about Derek because I didn't also have a toddler to chase after and a house to keep up. I wouldn't trade what we have now though for anything. I'm so grateful for the time to see my babies grow up.
Here are some updates on the boys.
Derek started speech therapy 3 weeks ago and is doing wonderful. He has learned several new words already and is opening up to his therapist and signing more. It's so great to watch him blossom.
The new words I can think of right now:
Foot, please (ees), down, knee (nuh), head, melon (un), and bird (buh).
Lately he's become very obsessed with Thomas the Tank Engine. Mickey is still a favorite, but he will now bring us the remote and say Choo Choo. I foresee a lot of Thomas trains under the tree for us.
We took him to the dr for his 2 year birthday and he's doing just great. The dr wasn't concerned about his weight like we were worried about. He said he's just long and lean. He's 34.5" and 24lbs which puts him in 25% for height and 10% for weight. The only concern was his speech but he was confident that the speech therapy would help exponentially.
Parker is a mobile moving machine. You'd never know he hated being on his belly. Anytime you put him on his back, he now immediately rolls to his belly and looks around. He started doing the army crawl last week and is going to be on the move soon chasing his big brother. And oh boy does he love his big brother. He just looks at Derek with such awe and a big smile on his face.
He loves to eat. There is evidence of this on his chubby little thighs that we love to kiss so much. He's starting eating solids and has loved everything we've given him. So far he's had: banana, apples, pears, squash, and sweet potatoes. He will eat oatmeal cereal, but only if mixed with fruit juice or fruit or a combination of both.
We can't wait to watch them continue to grow up and thrive.

Lately Derek has been playing with the baby toys for Parker. When we brought home the jumperoo he was so excited and climbed into it and played for a while. Tonight he got on the couch and sat in the bouncy seat and started bouncing himself. I think he's missing being a baby and having all the attention.

Parker has 2 bottom teeth coming through already. 3 months 1 week. What.The.Hell?! Of course now people are never going to believe he was ever a happy baby because his mouth hurting tends to turn him into a screaming banshee at the drop of a hat. That's my Parker - melodramatic already. No idea where he gets that from.

In other news I promise to get picture up from Derek's birthday party soon. We had a fabulous time and are so blessed to have such wonderful family and friends that were able to celebrate with us and we missed those that weren't able to be with us. We love you all!

My sweet first born,


I can't believe it's already been two years since they placed you on my belly and you just looked up in awe. You have been in awe of everything the world has shown you since then. I didn't think my heart could feel so deeply until you were born. Now watching you grow into a big boy and a big brother fills me with such joy. You have turned our world upside down and we wouldn't have it any other way. I now look forward to playing with legos, trains, cars, and blocks. I love seeing you take in the world and smile so big whenever something surprises you. I am as in awe of you as you are of the world. I can't wait to soak in the many years ahead with you big boy.
